Antoine Dénériaz

morillon-terre-de-champions - Station de ski alpin : Office du tourisme Morillon (Savoie), Ski randonnee grand massif sur le domaine skiable familial du grand massif (Samoens)

A long-standing member of his hometown ski club, Morillon in Haute Savoie, the young Antoine Deneriaz was trained by his father until he entered into the Grand Massif team FIS circuit at 15 years old. Three very formative years lead to a number of junior world championships, the USA in 1994, whereby he encountered future celebrities such as Covili, Pequegnot and Suchet. The skier rapidly joined the B team in France in the spring of 1995, followed by the A team in 1997. Over the next three seasons he was exposed to the European cup and the World cup, results following shortly after. In December1998 in Val d'Isère, Antoine Dénériaz took 4th place only a couple of hundredths behind the first three. This was the trigger. He went from race to race : triple french champion and winner of three World cups, a growing list of awards. The day of glory for the native Morillon came on the 12th February 2006 in Turin when he proved himself by winning the most prestigious, olympic, alpine event, the men’s downhill in 1’48’80. With a large build of 1,88m and weighing 97kg he was amongst the favourites to win. ‘’ I was on another planet, nothing could touch me’’ concluded the 2006 Olympic champion, before announcing his retirement in 2007.

Morillon’s mountain bike downhill team. Agenda for 2011 : Involve many difficult courses requiring plenty of training in muddy conditions.

Laura : a positive report for her even though she missed a season due to a big injury. She is progressing race by race returning to her former level. Exams now under her belt, she approaches the future with confidence. This year she enrolled business studies, the course has been tailored to meet her demanding training schedule, and to take part in technical DH training organised by Alex Balaud in the sports sector of the universities of Savoie.

Marcel : It is his 1st year at a national and international standard. Race after race he is achieving excellent results even though it is only his 1st year as a cadet. The future looks bright.

Boris : A relocation to the Reunion islands at the beginning of the season has prevented Boris from competing in many competitions. That said, he can train throughout the year and return even stronger next year.

Loic : Great progress for Loic, hardly any falls, a lot of enjoyment and confidence on the bike, the evolution is very interesting and encouraging for next season where he will be on his 2nd year at junior level.

Alexandre : Assessment mitigated for Alexandre who very well began the season but who did not manage to keep the same dynamics. Nevertheless, he stays in a good national level with a light progress regarding the last season. Many falls on the races, while times are good, thus, obviously a big disappointment at the end. Alex remains motivated. He decided to take seriously things in hand for the next season by working with a physical assistant experimented in DH.

Yannick : A super season for Yannick retaining his high level. He is disappointed by his results in the world cup because he has the capacity to qualify.

The team RVTT recognised by all for their team spirit that enables each member to freely express themselves according to their level and their goals, all thanks to you !!
