HANDISKI at Morillon Grand Massif

Morillon: even better accessibility in 2013

-      Since summer 2011, direct access to Les Esserts via the cable-car.

-      Welcome to "Tatu Handi Giffre", a new association in Morillon providing handisport equipment and with a special "handisport" chalet project.

New: the Chalet d'Clair has a wheelchair making it possible to enjoy a drink and a bite to eat, out on the slopes.

The resort of Morillon is well suited for skiing for people with disabilities.

SKiing

SKIING AT MORILLON

Use the reserved parking spaces in the village, in front of the cable-car, take the cable-car (with a little help for the sloping section), direct transfer onto equipment on leaving the cable-car. Direct departure from the Sairon chairlift for the entire ski area.
For beginners, the Marvel piste (green, 6 km) is perfect, with its varied terrain and beautiful scenery.
Then in Morillon the Sairon blue piste, which is broad and easy.
In the ski area, all kinds of situations and various types of chair-lifts help with independence, so you can simply have fun.

SKI PASS :
The mechanical lifts offer 50% discount to holders of a disability card (N.B. this does not mean preferential treatment!)

THE EQUIPMENT:

The association "Tatu Handi Giffre" provides certain equipment for its members (registration at the resort, €20) :

-       A tandemski : a kind of taxi, great for discovering the ski area, driven by the instructor.
Accessible to all people who want to ski, as a family, a group, or simply for the pleasure of skiing.
-       A piloted dualski : this is a kind of mini taxi, great for discovering the ski area, driven by an instructor, for people weighing less than 60kg (9st 6lb)
-       A kartski : a fantastic piece of equipment, designed to give greater autonomy, while speeding up the learning process and providing instant fun for people who lack the balance for skiing
-       A uniski : a bob used to learn to ski independently in a seated position. In just a week, you will be going down an easy run all by yourself.

For more equipment or specific requirements, you can contact our neighbours at "Samoëns Handi Glisse", and the chairman Michel Veisy: +33 (0)4 50 34 47 12, +33 (0)6 80 66 55 60, michel.veisy@laposte.netL’ECOLE DE SKI FRANÇAIS

THE ECOLE DU SKI FRANÇAIS (FRENCH SKI SCHOOL)

Our five specialist instructors will help you through your activity, driving equipment, offering discovery sessions and teaching…
Lessons last at least 2 consecutive hours, charged at the same rate as individual lessons. As the number of wheelchairs is limited, you must get in touch as early as possible to define and book the equipment required for your particular disability.
You will be asked to join one of the 2 associations (Samoëns Handi Glisse or Tatu Handi Glisse), who will then provide their equipment free of charge.
We are also qualified to teach skiing to people suffering mental disabilities.
Before registering, please contact the ESF reception service by e-mail (info@esf-morillon.com) or phone (+33 (0)4 50 90 11 52)

Prices :
2 consecutive hours: €64
2 consecutive hours a day for 6 days: €332

Outside opening times, please contact Bruno, ESF instructor at Morillon and seated skiing contact, at the following address: bpezet@orange.fr. He will do his best to give you all the information you need to reassure you and explain the way we work.

You can also contact Franck, a dual-ski skier and a student of the ESF Morillon, who will be happy to answer your questions: put "handiski" in the subject line and send your email to: bouzereau@sfr.fr
